In the heart of Kilifi County, Kenya lies Bodoi, a small village where life struggles inter twine with the dreams of its people. Over the years, Kilifi County has faced challenges, battling high illiteracy rates at the grassroots of the community.
A stark reality emerges – teenage pregnancies – as a result parental negligence and the desperation to fulfill basic needs. These girls, once filled with hope, find themselves enticed into early adulthood, driven to compromise their education and their future. But amid these trials, a beacon of change emerged, Education Seeds Foundation and Chemi Chemi united to organize the Binti Smart Event, on August 3rd 2023. Sixteen young mothers, their dreams halted by teenage pregnancies, were given a life line.
Education Seeds Foundation financial support allowed the event to flourish- each young mother received a food basket, a symbol of hope and support, all providing a sense of security for them and their new-borns. Reverend Cosmas presented gifts on behalf of Leonie, and in unity they offered blessings to ignite the ‘Binti Smart Program’
